Creating New Traditions: Walking Down Nostalgia Lane
Happy Holidays Curlies!
I hope you all are doing well and doing a lot of reflecting to bring the New Year right! This year has brought many trials and blessings. I am thankful for all the learning experiences and am willing to learn so much more. I am accepting the quirky, weird, expressive, and ambitious soul that I am. I am learning to understand some may not resonate with me, but I am thankful for the ones that do. As you continue to maneuver through this world you relearn and learn new experiences. This brings me to this week's blog topic, Creating New Traditions: Walking Down Nostalgia Lane.
Creating New Traditions: Walking Down Nostalgia Lane
During this time a lot of people may go through pain, loss, and grieve of past people and occurrences. It is okay to feel all the emotions and take the time you need. It is important to remember the old traditions. Some of my old holiday traditions are filling your living room with vibrant poinsettia flowers, smelling cinnamon sticks, taking in the warm vanilla aroma, and enjoying the cool sensation of peppermints. A very old tradition is watching holiday movies with my grandma, grandpa, and sister. Home alone in NYC was a staple. I enjoyed listening to the Temptations Christmas Collection and I embracing the togetherness. Now That's a nostalgia of 90's culture.
This year I chose to create new traditions for the sake of my family. The world turns in so many directions when trying to understand it all, you can get lost in its current. Happiness, peace, and prosperity starts at home. To help you during this holiday season try creating new traditions to spend time with family more. Here are 3 new traditions:
Cocoa Bomb and Chill Night: Night time is a great time for the family to get together. Usually everyone is mostly low key and ready to chill during the evenings. Cocoa bombs are pretty tasty and great to watch for about 1 minute. Click on your favorite holiday comedy show or family fun movie.
Holiday Games: I enjoy playing UNO and card against humanity kids version. Game night or a game session can help you build more social time with your family. A trendy game I saw recently is the Bow Scoop Game. It requires you to have some gift bows and bowls. You must blindfold yourself and other competitors. You all must scoop the bows into the bowl. This can be timed or until no bows are left. The winner will receive a reward.
Attractions: Attend holiday events or schedule a movie. You can even attend a holiday lighting event. A night cruising around town is simple enough to spend family time.
I hope you all pick up some of these new traditions and maybe even create some of your own. Make sure you continue to walk down nostalgia lane. Smell old memories and relive old experiences. Remember when days were better but know better days lie ahead. Be sure to comment down below. Let me know what are some old and new traditions you participate in.
