Black History Month: She Never Forgot Her Crown👑
Hey Curlies,✨
It is STILL Black History Month! I want to say that I celebrate Black History Month ALL year long. I love my Black people and our culture is levitating. We have overcome so much as a people and continue to take up space in all areas. I feel inspired when I hear a Black woman with a similar story as mine. In the US it has always been challenging to be a black person. Some of us even make ourselves small only to hope we can be viewed as equal human beings. When I graduated from college in Winter 2024 I attended a Black Graduation celebration. I was given a special stole for attending the Black Graduation and one professor really uplifted me. She told us to close our eyes and think of all the challenges and blessings we have faced. As my eyes were closed tears came down my eyes because I had a hard year. I was around so much toxicity and all I did was try to be a better version of myself. I'm here to tell you I never forgot my crown.
Three tips on How to Never Forget Your Crown
Tip 1 Self-Reflection and Trust your Direction:
Take some time out for you. According to Healthline.com Black women tend to have heightened cortisol levels. High cortisol levels can potentially link to diseases. Stress is inevitable and can happen to any one. Keep a journal or download daily prompts reflecting towards your overall wellbeing. Meditate and center yourself. Understand emotions tend to come and go. Reflect on your experience and look inward for direction. Take care of yourself, and remember taking care of yourself doesn't have to cost money.
Tip 2 Change is Inevitable but Transformation is a Choice- Heather Ash Amara:
Change is bound to happen whether it is good or bad. In tough times you must remember to transform for a better version of yourself. This is a lifelong practice and you can not become a master overnight. Transformation can only be defined by you. You cannot let other people dictate your life and purpose. This is how easily you can forget your crown.
Tip 3 Take Time to Realize You've Always Been By Your Side:
Team YOU! The key to never forgetting your crown is understanding it is YOUR CROWN. Every mishap and achievement came from you. Even when you let yourself down you still had the courage to stand tall. This year stay locked in on your vision, goals, prize, wishes, and etc. When you hold your own crown you'll always realize better days lie ahead.
Since it is Black History Month here is a queen who never forgot her crown, Madam CJ Walker.
She was an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and activist. She was born December 23, 1867. If you ever watched the Netflix film, Self Made it mentions the triumphant life of Madam CJ Walker. She started making her own hair care products in the kitchen. Once successful she marketed her own brand and owned a manufacturing company. She became the first female African American millionaire. She was truly self made. When she passed on May 25, 1919 she was worth between one half to one million. Her gravesite can be found in Woodlawn Cemetery Bronx, NY. (I might need to plan a trip 😁) Madam CJ Walker was truly a woman who never forgot her crown. When times seemed impossible she progressed towards adversity in order to deliver greatness. I know we all may fall short at times but try to never forget your crown.👑
I love this picture of Madam CJ Walker (Driver) she is a boss queen with her crown held high!
