Calm Shifts the Storm✨

 Hey Curlies✨

I know it's been a little while but just know I am still here. I am literally in remission from having a bad cold that literally had me down pretty bad. I had to learn to REST from EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING even the things I desired to do. I remained calm in order to restore my strength and for a woman that holds many hats that is sometimes hard for me to do. This brings me into tonight's blogspot post. Calm Shifts the Storm. I am learning being calm in knowing everything will be fine even when it currently isn't changes your storm. You start to experience your storm only takes place in a moment of time. Your calmness leads to restoration and shifts the storm. You then are led to a warmer season. Tonight I will teach you 3 ways to stay calm in your storm☔

Since it is my birthday season you know I had to add an Ice Queen👑🧊✨

Here are 3 ways to stay calm during your personal storm 🌧️✨

1. Ground your body first.

When emotions are loud, bring attention to your breath, your feet on the floor, or something solid you can touch. A calm body tells the mind it’s safe to slow down. Remember ground your body before you try to fix your thoughts.

When life feels overwhelming, your nervous system often goes into survival mode before your mind can make sense of what’s happening. That’s why trying to “think positive” rarely works in the middle of a storm. Start with your body. Slow your breathing—inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth, longer on the exhale. Feel your feet pressing into the floor. Place a hand on your chest or stomach and notice the rise and fall. These simple actions send a message to your brain that you are safe right now. Calm doesn’t begin in the mind; it begins in the body.

2. Name what you’re feeling—without judging it.

Instead of “I’m losing it,” try “I’m overwhelmed right now.” Naming the feeling creates space between you and the storm, reminding you that emotions pass. Name the emotion without criticizing yourself for having it.

Emotions become heavier when we judge them. Saying “I shouldn’t feel this way” adds shame to pain. Instead, practice naming what’s present with compassion: I feel anxious. I feel disappointed. I feel tired and unsure. This separates who you are from what you’re experiencing. You are not the storm—you are the sky holding it. Naming emotions gives them boundaries, and once feelings have boundaries, they become easier to manage and move through.

3. Shrink your world to what you can control.

Focus on the next small, kind action—drink water, step outside, write one sentence, rest your edges. Peace returns faster when you stop fighting everything at once. Narrow your focus to what you can control in this moment.

During emotional chaos, the mind wants to solve everything at once—past mistakes, future fears, other people’s reactions. That only fuels anxiety. Gently bring your attention back to what’s within reach. Ask yourself: What is one small thing I can do right now that supports me? It might be drinking water, stepping outside for fresh air, writing a few thoughts down, or choosing rest instead of pushing through. Small, intentional actions restore a sense of stability and remind you that even in uncertainty, you still have agency.

Your personal storm may feel intense, but storms are temporary. Calm isn’t about making everything disappear—it’s about learning how to stand steady while it passes. You don’t have to rush your healing. You just have to keep breathing through it 🌫️💙

Remember the storm may be real, but so is your ability to breathe through it 🌬️💙🌧️

Here is an affirmation to help you get to your calm in the storm:

I breathe deeply and ground myself, even when emotions feel heavy.

I allow my feelings without judging myself for having them.

I focus on what I can control and trust myself to get through this moment.

This storm is temporary. I am steady, supported, and safe within myself. 🌿
